There is always a danger of internet dating threatening a relationship; the danger of internet dating is that it is not considered a physical affair as.
Just because there happens to be no physical element to an online affair doesn’t mean there isn’t an emotional attachment involved, and in some ways this can be classed as more threatening to a real relationship. People should be aware that if they are pursuing a friendship over the internet, it shouldn’t jeopardize their real relationship in any way, as there are now more and more ways to be found out!
Spy software, such as keyloggers, can trace every letter, number or character that has been entered into the computer and can therefore inform a partner that you have been liaising with another person. Although it wouldn’t be able to tell them who is liaising with who (unless a name is typed), it could make them jump to all the wrong (or right) conclusions.
In the users eyes there is no thought of dangers of internet dating because they are really not looking for such a relationship. However, a spouse may think differently, and these keyloggers make it easier for a partner to find out. You may never know the software is there because it will not come up in anti-virus programs, etc but it will be there in the background recording every keyboard stroke!
The best advice given to anybody would be to think about how they are communicating with another person over the internet as it could be misinterpreted by some as dating. Is there a real danger of internet dating being misinterpreted for something it’s not? If there is, come clean now before you get caught out!
